My dog says he loves all the animal commercials that GEICO does! Now, this is the way dogs should be chasing cats. Kick it into cruise control, get a bag of Pupperoni, and go!
*Milk Bone love to Patricia Anderson Connors for sharing this with us!

New leash attachment provides greater safety during dog walks
My dog says he's discovered an effective way to make those darn retractable leashes safer for dogs. Thanks to Capability: Mom and the kind folks at Freehand Safety Strap, we were able to try out an attachment which provides a more secure connection between the hand and hard casing of the leash (you can see a demonstration in the video below).
Well, after testing it out, we were quite pleased with the strap. It provides peace of mind for the human and a safer walk for the dog. Win-win.
Let us know if you try it out. We give it two paws up!
Disclaimer: We won a free attachment and we wrote this review in hopes that people who use retractable leashes will be more aware of the safety issues that accompany them. No compensation has exchanged hands and this is not a paid advertisement. Tweet

A Look at Japan's Cat Island
My dog says he just learned that there's a place in Japan called Cat Island. Despite the country's quake, tsunami, and nuclear meltdown, the residents of the remote isle are doing fine--but they need food (rescue groups are trying to get a helicopter to the island since the water is too full of debris to go by boat).
Apparently, Cat Island is a fishing village and the locals believe that the cats are good luck. Tourists, and animal lovers, even visit the island to experience it for themselves. Check out the news piece below with great footage of Cat Island (no translation was provided, unfortunately). Oh, and it wouldn't be My Dog Says without a little reminder to spay and neuter your cats!

Devoted dog stays with injured friend after Japan's tsunami
My dog says there is no creature on Earth more loyal than a dog! This video captured in Japan shows just how amazing that sense of devotion is. In the wake of an earthquake and a tsunami, this dog refuses to leave his canine companion's side. And, rest assured, since this news footage was shot, both dogs have been rescued and taken to local clinics for veterinary care.
* Below the video is the transcript of the Japanese narration, courtesy of Toshiyuki Kitamura and Yahoo!. Oh, and to help Japan's animals in need, donate through World Vets or check out Japan Earthquake Animal Rescue and Support on Facebook.
We are in Arahama area. Looks like there is a dog. There is a dog. He looks tired and dirty. He must have been caught in the tsunami. He looks very dirty.
He has a collar. He must be someone's pet. He has a silver collar. He is shaking. He seems very afraid.
Oh, there is another dog. I wonder if he is dead.
Where?
Right there. There is another dog right next to the one sitting down. He is not moving. I wonder. I wonder if he is alright.
The dog is protecting him.
Yes. He is protecting the dog. That is why he did not want us to approach them. He was trying to keep us at bay.
I can't watch this. This is a very difficult to watch.
Oh. Look. He is moving. He is alive. I am so happy to see that he is alive.
Yes! Yes! He is alive.
He looks to be weakened. We need to them to be rescued soon. We really want them rescued soon.
Oh good. He's getting up.
It is amazing how they survived the tremendous earthquake and tsunami. It's just amazing that they survived through this all.

Don't Judge a Shelter Dog by Her Fear or Matted Hair
My dog says if you open your heart--and your eyes--every dog out there makes for a wonderful companion. This video is a great reminder that the abused, the neglected, the dirty, and the unsightly just need a human to see them for who they are inside and extend a gentle and compassionate hand. Check out Edie's story. It's a moving account about how quickly a dog can be won over when a human just shows a little patience and kindness.
