Product Review: Canidae Pure Petite Small Breed Dog Food Trays

My dog says this week we're testing a product from a company we've never tried before: Canidae. We're familiar with the name and know it's a premium product, but we just haven't gotten around to trying it yet. So, no time like the present! Let's see what Canidae is all about!

Canidae says its Pure Petite Terrine Style Dinner is a French inspired recipe. In all of the products we've tried, we can honestly say we've never seen one before inspired by French cooking! We sampled the chicken and peas recipe, which they say is simmered in chicken broth. This particular line is especially for small breed dogs with sensitive stomachs. It's also a grain-free food.

We always pay special attention to the first five ingredients of any food and for this recipe they include chicken broth, chicken, turkey, chicken liver, and dried peas. (Pro tip: when looking at ingredients always pay attention to the details. For instance, this says chicken liver and a lesser food might just say liver.) The chicken is free of added hormones or antibiotics, as well. There's also a probiotic mix in it for healthy digestion.

To say our little pups really enjoyed this food would be a gross understatement! The photos below are out of focus because our Chihuahua was scarfing it up so fast and eating with such enthusiasm that we couldn't get the camera to focus with all his movement!

Overall, the Canidae Grain-Free Pure Petite Terrine Style Dinner with Chicken & Peas Small Breed Dog Food we ordered from Chewy was a huge success in our house! We like to find quality foods that the dogs love and are easy to serve, and this fits the bill very nicely! Our crew gives this food four paws out of four paws, for sure! Plus a whole lot of extra paws, too!

Disclaimer: As a Chewy influencer, we received this product for free so we could sample it. Our reviews, however, are not bought or paid for and you can count on My Dog Says Woof to give you an honest assessment in all our product reviews.
