My dog says if you have a heart, this video will move you to tears---and action. Dogs are social animals who want nothing more than to be near their human families. There is nothing crueler than to sentence your dog to a life outside on a chain. Nothing.

My dog says this comic below is absolutely heartbreaking. People who chain their dogs sentence them to a life of lonliness, despair, and emotional and physical neglect. Dogs are pack animals who crave companionship and interaction with their human families--not a solitary life with a chain around their necks!

Little man is big hero to pitbulls

My dog says he is anxious to see the new show Pit Boss on Animal Planet. It's about a guy, Shorty Rossi, who runs a talent agency for little people and is founder of Shorty's Pit Bull Rescue.

Watch the trailer below and I think you'll be as excited to see the show as I am. Pit Boss premieres on January 16 at 10:00 pm on Animal Planet.

Keeping your pup's hour glass shape

My dog says he just learned this handy metric for keeping your dog svelte. Your pup should walk two blocks a day for each 10 pounds of body weight. That'll keep him/her healthy and trim.

Children's book with dog-friendly message

My dog says he heard about this great children's book that educates kids about chained dogs. He hasn't read it, but he'd like to. Pud says two paws up for this one. Companion animals belong with their families; not isolated and tethered.

Animal calendar needs submissions

My dog says if you have a doggie family member who had a former life as a chained or penned dog, submit him or her for the Dogs Deserve Better calendar. Just send a current high-res shot and two paragraphs telling your dog's story to dogs@dogsdeservebetter.org this week.
