Woody Harrelson Meets a Stuffed Fox

My dog says he wants you to spend three minutes with actor Woody Harrelson and a cute stuffed fox in this latest video from the Humane Society of the United States. The fact of the matter is that fur is not a fabric; it's an animal. And for those of you who'd like to learn more about the fur industry--without watching all the gory, bloody videos--Woody has something just for you. Check it out.

Animal Adoption is Forever!

My dog says when you adopt a companion animal, it's a lifetime commitment. Just like when you have kids, you keep them when they're sick, when you move, and if times get tough. There is no excuse for giving up a pet. Ever.

Your dog or cat would never betray you. Why would you betray him or her?

This PSA says it all.

Would you Keep a Three-Year-Old Child in a Factory Farm?

My dog says research indicates that a pig is as smart as a three-year-old child. Most pigs bred to be food are kept in factory farms--dark, smelly warehouses where animals are kept in horrific conditions. Meet Lacey, a sow unlucky enough to be a victim of factory farming.

Pitbull Heroes Overcome Stereotypes

My dog says disliking a dog merely because of his or her genes is breedism! Unfortunately, breed discrimination is rampant and pitbulls are the most common victims.

Just like people, dogs are shaped by their experiences. You can have an aggressive poodle or a passive Rottweiler. It's not all about breed.

Check out these great stories of pit bull heroes. And, remember, don't judge a dog by its breed any more than you'd judge a person by his or her skin color. Discrimination stinks!

Dog needs legal help to stay with his family

My dog says he hopes you'll support Stitch's family and their legal effort to keep him. Stitch, a French Bulldog, came from a neglectful home, yet was lucky enough to eventually find the love of a committed and loving family. Unfortunately, Stitch's new family has been fighting a legal battle to keep him. Read Stitch's story HERE (be sure to sign the petition!) and know that, sadly, animals are nothing more than property when it comes to the court system.

If you can, buy something from the Save Stitch web store where all proceeds go to Stitch's legal fund. You can also contribute directly by clicking HERE. Lastly, if you happen to be in the Los Angeles area, why not attend the Save Stitch concert on August 14th? Tickets are just $15 and go to a great cause! Oh, you can also "like" Stitch on Facebook so you can stay up to date on his court case.

If you love your companion animals, think how heartbroken you would be if someone tried to take away your furry family! Now, let's help Stitch keep the home he so rightly deserves!

Dumping and Abandoning a Dog is Demented

My dog says a companion animal is a lifetime commitment. If you can't be responsible enough to care for a pet for its lifetime, do whatever it takes to find him or her another home. Abandoning a pet is NEVER an option.

The Animal Protection League of Amsterdam offers this great reminder:

Mother's Day is for Dogs, too!

My dog says Mother's Day is coming up and it's important to remember that dogs are moms, too! Sadly, many of those moms are forced to live in puppy mills where they stand in wire cages, receive no human love or contact, and are impregnated again and again--with their babies taken away from them. That's no way to treat a mother!

Check out this new PSA from country singer Colbie Caillat and never buy from a pet store or off the internet. If you don't know where the dog you get has come from, chances are you may be supporting a puppy mill!

Russell Simmons speaks out against dog fighting in new video

My dog says hip hop mogul Russell Simmons' is a whole lot of wooftastic! He's vegan and he advocates for animals! What more could a dog like me hope for?

Check out Russell's new PSA to bring awareness to dog fighting and bait dogs. It's puppyrific when famous people use their celebrity to help animals. Go Russell!

Provocative PSA promotes shelter animals

My dog says if you TRULY love animals, you have got to adopt! For every dog that is purchased at a pet store or through a breeder, a loving and deserving dog waiting at the shelter dies. It's that simple.

Adopt; never shop.

Justin Bieber speaks out in support of animal adoption

My dog says he's not a fan of teen music sensations. However, Justin Bieber just set himself apart from the rest of the pack by using his celebrity to advocate for animals. As part of a campaign to highlight animal adoption, instead of buying at pet stores, Justin shares his love of dogs and his compassion for our four-footed friends.

Check out his behind the scenes video interview at the PETA2 photo shoot.

Mixed martial arts pro talks about being a lifelong vegetarian

My dog says you should check out mixed martial arts fighter Jake Shields! He's been vegetarian his entire life and is expected to win the UFC: Ultimate Fighting Championship this year. Think you need to eat dead animals to be strong? Heck no!

Every animal deserves a kind touch from a human

My dog says he really likes this photo. No commentary on this one; the quote and cute piggy say it all.

New rap song tries to stop dog fighting

My dog says he hopes this song reaches the right audience to help stop dog fighting. Lots of rappers preach violence, but K-Lethal Feat and Lady Bishop are using music to educate and advocate. Check out their music video and spread it around! The dogs need every one of us to help. Stop dog fighting!

Help a cow or save a pig this holiday season!

My dog says if you're looking to make a year-end donation, why not give it to Farm Sanctuary? This wonderful organization provides lifelong care and shelter to animals who were saved from slaughter or other life-threatening situations. Make a donation before December 17 and your gift will be matched dollar for dollar by an anonymous benefactor.

Learn more about the animals who were helped this year at Farm Sanctuary by watching the touching video below. We defy you to look at those little piglets and not feel all happy inside to see them playing and safe in their new home! Oink!

The holidays are murder on turkeys

My dog says the holidays are no holiday for turkeys! This comic says it all. Something to think about as you start your shopping for Christmas dinner. Everyone--human, furry, and feathered--wants to enjoy living life.

Even turkeys want to give thanks on Thanksgiving

My dog says Thanksgiving is a day for all of us to relish family and be thankful for the wonderful things in our lives. Ever stop to think that a turkey is just as grateful for his or her life as you are for yours? Of course they are!

So why not bring some compassion to your holiday season by serving a cruelty-free meal? Check out the suggestions in the video below and meet Lily the turkey. After all, shouldn't everyone be thankful on Thanksgiving?

Glee star speaks out to help animals

My dog says today is Tuesday and for many people that means another episode of Glee! For you Gleeks, and for those with a compassionate heart, check out actress Lea Michele's new PSA (it's Rachel-approved!).

Unlike Dancing with the Stars' "celebrity" Bristol Palin, who will wear fur in an upcoming video, Lea is using her voice to help and respect animals. Go Lea!

30 reasons to go vegetarian

My dog says "Chew On This" is one of the best short videos about becoming a vegetarian. Check out these 30 great reasons on why you should consider a cruelty-free diet.

Love animals? Why not save one today? You can download a free vegetarian starter kit HERE.

Music legend Willie Nelson speaks out against dog fighting

My dog says two paws up for Willie Nelson! Although a public service announcement (PSA) is the least a celebrity can do to help raise awareness about important issues, not nearly enough of them do it. Kudus to Willie for using his voice to advocate for dogs, and especially for speaking out against dog fighting!

Here's Willie's spot for Best Friends Animal Society:

This is not your mama's petting zoo

My dog says if you love animals, you'll want to plan a visit to Animal Acres! Located in the outskirts of Los Angeles, this amazing compound is home to pigs, chickens, cows, turkeys, and other "food" animals who have been saved from the slaughterhouse.

Animal Acres is open to the public on tour days and during special events. Not only can you get up close and personal with the animals, but volunteers can teach you anything you care to know about compassionate living. Lots of free educational resources are available to visitors, in addition to a gift shop with great vegetarian and vegan cookbooks and other animal-friendly items.

To learn more about Animal Acres, check out the wonderful video below which gives you a tour of the facility and an idea of what you can expect during your visit. And, yes, that man in the colorful hat at the five minute mark of the video is James Cromwell (better known as the actor who played the farmer in the movie Babe). After filming Babe, Cromwell became a vegan.
