Product Review: Nutro Wild Frontier Multipack for Cats

My dog says KitCat loves to eat, so we put him to work this week on a new review for you! This time, our resident feline tested out the Nutro Wild Frontier high protein/grain free variety pack! Was this ancestral inspired diet to his liking? Read on to find out!

Nutro offers the Wild Frontier variety packs in an assortment of flavors. We choose the chicken and beef recipe packed with the salmon and trout recipe. Hopefully we picked right for Sir Cat.

This food is not only grain free, but it doesn't have artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives. Inspired by nature, the Wild Frontier line is high protein. If a meat rich diet is important to you, you'll love this food. It's also made in America.

The chicken and beef recipe lists chicken liver, chicken, pork broth, chicken broth, and beef as it's first five ingredients. The salmon and trout recipe has salmon, chicken, chicken liver, pork broth, chicken broth, and trout as its first ingredients. There's a nice balance of whole meat along with meat broth in these foods, so they're meaty but moist. They're also packaged in portion sized trays which means no need for food lids or refrigeration. Just snap the unit in half and use one tray at a time.

Overall, KitCat seems to be a fan of the Nutro Wild Frontier line of food for cats. And the variety packs are a nice way of trying new flavors without being committed to a whole case with just one recipe (KitCat did prefer the fish flavor to the beef, but your results may vary). We'll continue to try new flavors, but rest assured the Nutro Wild Frontier multipack is something we'll definitely be reordering soon. We give this product 3.5 paws out of four! Nice job!

Product Review: Solid Gold SeaMeal Supplements for Dogs

My dog says this week we're excited to review something a little different: Solid Gold SeaMeal Supplements. Formulated to treat skin and coat, the digestive system, and immune health, these sound just like what one of our itchy family members needs.

When Billy came to us, he had terrible skin and was prone to throwing up. It's an issue we've been dealing with, trying to find the right solution. That means we're always eager to try something new.

Ingredients:

As with most supplements, many of the ingredients are things that have value and we don't fully understand what that value is. The first few items on the ingredient list here are dried seaweed meal, brewer's dried yeast, glycerin, dried potato, flaxseed, and lecithin.

The seaweed is all USA-sourced and is high in chlorophyll, iodine, and essential nutrients. It is also rich in vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and antioxidants which help support healthy skin and coat. The flaxseeds and omega oils also soothe and nourish the skin.

Since tummy and skin issues frequently go together, digestive enzymes are added to maintain a healthy digestive system. Plus B vitamins, zinc, selenium, iron and magnesium help maintain digestive and immune health.

These supplements are grain-free, and contain no gluten. So, they're great for pets with sensitivities or allergies. There are also no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives.

Usability:

These chews are soft and easy to break apart. Although they could be given whole, we've been breaking each piece into four so it's roughly the same size as a piece of kibble. Then we still into into the bowl with the kibble and wet food. The pups eat them up; no issues at all.

Origin:

Made in the U.S.A.

Cost:

The cost for autoship on Chewy.com right now is $22.79. Since these are something you'll have your dog on regularly, may as well get the autoship discount. There are 120 in a bottle, so it's a nice supply (lasting up to 8 months for small dogs or one month for dogs over 75 pounds). Not a bad price if it gets you a dog with better skin and fewer digestive issues!

Rating:

We've been using the Solid Gold SeaMeal supplements for two weeks now and we think we've seen some improvements. We're going to update this review in another two weeks and give it a rating then. A full one-month period will probably yield the most accurate results.

UPDATE! We have used this product for a month now and we absolutely see some visible improvements. Our dog's hair is thicker and softer and he hasn't pulled any of it out (which he always does in the spring and summer months). We are very pleased with the results of the SeaMeal!
