Dogs welcome at this church

My dog says he just read the most awesome story about a church in Los Angeles that allows parishioners to bring their dogs to services with them! The Covenant Presbyterian Church encourages church goers to bring Fido to "Canines at Covenant" each Sunday at 5pm, along with his doggie bed, and water bowl. They even pass out treats to the pups!

Baby moose enjoys an unexpected shower

My dog says he found the most endearing home video of a moose family frolicking through a backyard sprinkler. Absolutely whimsical!

Adopt a turkey this Thanksgiving

My dog says the holidays are a time when people get together with their families and enjoy each other's company. But, humans are not the only species who love their families. Don't you think animals do, too? So, instead of eating a turkey this Thanksgiving, why not give one the gift of life?

Environmental Film Festival celebrates "green" films

My dog says you should check out the great "green" documentaries being shown at this year's Green Screen Environmental Film Festival in Venice, California. The four-day community event starts on Thursday, November 19 and runs through Sunday, November 22. It features some great films, a street festival, food, music, and town hall discussions about environmental issues.

While you're there, be sure to catch "45 Days: The Life and Death of a Broiler Chicken", which will be shown on Saturday at 4pm. However, if you can't make it to Venice, you can see the short 12 minute film below (broken into two parts; part 1 on top and part 2 at the bottom). Whether you "love" animals or just "love" to eat chicken, you'll find this documentary very enlightening.

Imagine being boiled alive

My dog says he wonders why people give absolutely no thought to the barbaric act of boiling another living creature while he/she is still alive? Yes, boiling them alive. Seems like a twisted act taken from a sci-fi book, doesn't it?

The next time you happily scamper up to the lobster tank at your local restaurant to select your victim, ah, make that your entree, remember this: lobsters feel pain. Yes, friends, lobsters feel pain.

If you've ever seen a stray animal, you need to watch this

My dog says this video is very thought provoking. Why are some people so cruel to stray animals? And, why do others do nothing when they see that cruel behavior? What if it were a boy? And why does that matter?

Cruelty is cruelty. Stand up for what is right and be a voice for the animals who need you.

Mine, mine, mine

My dog says he likes this photo. Usually the squirrel has to be the beggar, so he/she must feel very empowered to be holding all the cards (er, nuts) this time!

Jillian Michaels: Friend to animals

My dog says he thinks it's fantastic that Jillian Michaels (uber-trainer on The Biggest Loser) wore a t-shirt on this week's show with a dog-friendly message. Thank you to Jillian for using her celebrity to bring light to the issue of animal-overpopulation and breedism!

Also, on Jillian's Facebook page she recently announced that she'll be adopting a vegan diet for the month of January! Thanks for being a friend to animals, Jillian. Two paws up!

More reasons dogs should keep US as pets

My dog says he was feeling pretty good about himself this morning before he read this piece on amazing dogs. "7 Dogs That Accomplished More Than We Ever Will" tells the stories of some extraordinary pups who have helped mankind in remarkable ways. The blurb about Guinefort is particulary heartbreaking, though, so be forewarned.

Outrageous cruelty to baby "veal" cows

My dog says if you love animals, you must watch the latest undercover video from the Humane Society of the United States. It's filmed at a slaughterhouse in Vermont where baby cows are killed to provide veal cutlets to the masses. If you eat veal, you should really watch this to understand about the suffering and cruelty that is inherent to this five star restaurant food.

As Paul McCartney once said, "If slaughterhouses had glass windows, everyone would be a vegetarian."
