My dog says today's review is all about our toy breed friends! We'll be looking at Blue Buffalo Homestyle Recipe (chicken flavor) for those tiny pups they call toy!

As is always the case when we review new products, the ingredient list is super important to us. That said, the first five ingredients on this canned delight are chicken, chicken broth, chicken liver, carrots, and peas. We like this a lot, and you should, too.

The deboned chicken is a great source of essential amino acids, and there's also brown rice and barley to give your pup complex carbs for lots of energy. Fruits and veggies like carrots, sweet potatoes, blueberries, and cranberries provide lots of nutrients, while biotin helps keep your dog's skin and coat nice and healthy.

This is a nice, soft food. Not super mushy like canned puppy food, but just the right consistency for mashing up for easy eating. We tried out this food on several dogs, including friends' and neighbors' dogs, and they all scarfed up this yummy delectable. Seriously, we're talking bowls were licked clean!

This pate-style food is sold on Chewy.com in a case of 24 cans, each with 5.5 ounces of food. It's a good price for a premium food, too!

Product Review: Castor & Pollux Pristine Bone Broth

My dog says we're excited to talk to you today about a product you may not be using in your dog's diet: bone broth! Specifically, we'll be looking at Castor & Pollux's PRISTINE line of grass-fed beef bone broth. So let's get to it!

This broth is a limited ingredient food, consisting of just beef broth, beef fat, salt, and natural flavor. That means no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives. If your dog has food sensitivities, you can rest easy that there are also no grains, soy, corn, wheat, or gluten. The company also takes great pride in the fact that their beef is sourced from cows that are responsibly raised, with access to sunlight and fresh air.

So how do you use bone broth exactly? Any way you want! You can serve it as a nice beverage, you can pour it over kibble, or you can even use it to hydrate a freeze dried food. It's pretty much an all-purpose product!

We got a case of this amazing elicser from Chewy.com and it comes in a case of 24 8.4 ounce containers (they're kinda like a tall juice box). There's even a screw-on cap so you can conveniently store any unused broth in the fridge for your pup's next meal! Just be sure to use up the carton within a week. The recommended serving is 1/4 cup per 10 pounds of body weight, so you'll want to serve up the broth based on your dog's size.

The entire canine crew here at My Dog Says Woof really enjoyed the Castor & Pollox PRISTINE Beef Bone Broth A LOT. Like a super lot! We give this broth an enthusiastic four out of four paws up! Product Review: Tidy Cats Glade-Scented Clumping Litter

My dog says today's review is going to the cats! Today we'll be discussing Tidy Cats Clumping Litter with Glade Tough Solutions in Winter Pine scent. Let's get to it!

First off the scent. Yep, it's smells like pine. It you want pine, this is the pineiest! At first I was a little concerned the scent would keep our kitty from using the box, but it wasn't a problem at all. Those little aqua-colored pebbles must be scent boosters!

Next, usage. When we poured it into the box we were ready for a little dust but there really wasn't any! They call this a 99% dust-free formula and we're delighted to say it really is!

Sooo, how did it work? It worked well! The scent kept the smell in check and it clumps really well! The urine was super easy to lift out and the box was easy to clean!

The only thing we noticed was that our king kitty didn't cover up his potties as much. They're covered, but not very well. We suspect it's because this litter is heavier than what he's used to and maybe hasn't built up the kitty muscles to push around the litter as well. He'll be ripped soon, though!

The Tidy Cats Glade Scented Clumping Litter is available from Chewy and it comes in a case of two jugs, 20 pounds each! The great part about ordering from Chewy is that heavy stuff, like 40 pounds of litter, just magically shows up on your front steps! No lugging it around the store, loading and unloading from your car, and schlepping it to your door. We like the ease a lot!

We give this piney litter 3.5 out of 4 paws up! Meow wow!

Product Review: Stella & Chewy's Lil' Superblends Meal Mixer

My dog says today we're talking toppers! Although this topper can also be a rehydrated food, a mixer, or even a treat! What is it, you ask. It's Stella & Chewy's Lil' Superblends Meal Mixer!

For this review we tried the 95% cage-free chicken recipe (with organs and bone) and 100% organic fruit and vegetable superfoods that is packed with nutrients, probiotics, and antioxidants. Not only do probiotics help with healthy digestion and prove gentle on sensitive tummies, but a raw diet can help improve appetite, teeth and gum health, skin and coat condition, and also relieve allergies.

As always, we like to take a careful look at the ingredient list on all the foods we serve. This variety of meal mixer includes chicken with ground bone, chicken liver, chicken gizzard, organic bananas, and organic wild blueberries as its first five ingredients. It also has strawberries, cranberries, spinach, broccoli, beets, carrots squash, and apples (all organic!) and also pumpkin seed.

So how do you serve this food? Well, you can give it to your pups several different ways! You can either serve it on top of kibble, or you can mix it in with kibble, or with kibble and wet food. You may give it as treats if you want. You could also add warm water and rehydrate it. We thought we'd do just that and see how it went over. (There are instructions on the bag to help you get the ratio right and serve the proper portion size, too.)

Weeeellll, making it soft was the a huge hit! Everyone wanted to sample the goods and scarf it up!

We ordered the Stella & Chewy's Lil' Superblends Meal Mixer from Chewy.com and it's available in two sizes. (Remember, the weight for freeze-dried foods is always less that what you'd expect but generally turn out to be more food than you'd anticipate! We started with the smaller size, but since it's such a huge hit we'll be ordering the larger size next time---and there will be a next time!) We're excited to say that this food was a big-time winner in our home and we give it an enthusiastic four out of four paws up! Wooooof!

Product Review: Natural Balance Delectable Delights for Cats

My dog says today's review is going to the dogs...er, cats! Yes, today, we'll be reviewing a moist cat food from Natural Balance and it's Delectable Delights line of foods. Without further delay, let's get to it!

For this review, we selected the Life's a Beach recipe of the Delectable Delights line. This pate-style wet food is packaged in a 2.5 ounce tub, not a tray. That means each portion is a nice, big one! But, what's in it? Let's see!

This gourmet-style, grain-free pate is fortified with vitamins, minerals, and taurine to help maintain healthy eyes and heart. There's also omega 3 and 6 fatty acids for healthy skin and coat. The primary ingredients are just as solid. The first five ingredients are tuna broth, tuna, sardines, whitefish, and carrots. There's also mackerel, crab, and spinach in this recipe as well. The dark spots on top are the spinach.

It says this recipe is in gravy, but you'll probably see that the gravy amount varies a little from tub to tub. That's probably because some servings may absorb the gravy a little more than others. It's a soft, super moist food, though, and its moisture content is 80% so it's very enticing. And, the smell? Ohhhh, so nice and fishy! Mmmmmm!

Now, onto the tastin'!

KitCat says mmmmmmm! Fishalicious! Add this to our regular rotation, mom! Look at his empty dish! He ate it ALL!

The Natural Balance Delectable Delights is available on Chewy.com in a 12 tub case. At around a buck twenty per tub, it's a great price for a high quality food. There's also several other flavors to try out, so there are plenty of recipes to please your kitty! We've conferred with the KitCatster and he says we're giving this food a four out of four paw rating! Life is a beach, indeed!

Product Review: Instinct Raw Boost Mixers for Cats

My dog says today we'll be taking a look at kitty yummies! Well, Instinct by Nature's Variety Raw Boost Mixers can be used as a mix-in, topper, or a treat, whichever your feline prefers. So, let's take a look at this item and see what our taste tester KitCat thinks!

Instinct is a freeze dried food and we let KitCat sample the chicken flavor. One of the nice things about this food is it's an all natural, grain-free, minimally processed, raw, whole food. It's made with cage-free chicken, chicken liver, pumpkin seeds, carrots, apples, butternut squash, turkey liver, turkey heart, and a few other all natural ingredients (all fruits and veggies in this recipe are non-GMO, too!). Freeze dried foods remove the moisture, while locking in the nutrients and flavor. Therefore, it's generally a really solid food choice for your pets.

We've added these little nuggets to the kitty kibble and we've also given them out as treats. Each piece is about the size of woman's fingernail (not the false ones!) so they're a good size for eating. Oh, and this food is made in the United States! But, all this said, did KitCat like it?

He did! Meowza!

We got the Instinct by Nature's Variety Raw Boost Mixers for Cats from Chewy.com where it also has overwhelmingly positive reviews. It comes in a 6 ounce bag and is a good price for a freeze dried food. Six ounces may not sound like a lot, but remember that this is freeze dried so it's light and actually a good amount of food. You'll probably be surprised how long it lasts!

So, while KitCat is munching on his Mixers, we'll go ahead and submit his four out of four paws up rating. This product is a real winner!

Product Review: Solid Gold Mighty Mini Dog Kibble

My dog says this week we've been taste testing Solid Gold dog kibble. Since we've got little ones in the canine crew, we opted to try the small breed kibble. It looks like this product is in the middle of a rebranding, so you'll see that our photos says Lil' Boss but the photo when ordering online says Mighty Mini. Rest assured, it's the same product. So are the pups Mighty Mini/Lil' Boss fans? Let's see.

We opted for the turkey and hearty vegetable, grain-free recipe. As always, we like to look at the first five items on the ingredient list. In this recipe, it's turkey, turkey meal, chicken meal, peas, and chickpeas. Good stuff.

This variety also boasts 20 superfoods in it like blueberries, cranberries, pumpkin, lentils, carrots, kelp, broccoli, and almond oil. There's also other veggies including apples, lettuce, celery, beets, watercress, parsley, and spinach. Monounsaturated fats such as olive oil, salmon oil, and canola oil are also in the mix which are good for a healthy skin and coat. Lastly, the recipe is void of corn, soy, and wheat so it's a good option of dogs with allergies.

Now onto size. It's hard to believe all dog kibble used to be the same size back in the dark ages. Luckily, there are now a great selection of small breed kibbles on the market. The Mighty Mini is, indeed, mini (similar in size to a cat food); perfect for chihuahuas, poms, and other little breeds. (For reference, that's a pinky finger in the photo above.)

So, all of this is well and good, but will the crew eat it?

Yes! Alexander enjoyed it and the cat even came over to try to take it from him. Only one caveat on the size if you have a fast eater, the tiny kibble size might be problematic since a pup can fit a bunch of this into his/her mouth at once. We recommend using a slow feeder dish if you have a furry friend who's inclined to scarf his or her food.

Product Review: Zignature Salmon Recipe Limited Ingredient Canned Dog Food

My dog says today we're trying out the salmon formula of Zignature's canned food line for dogs. Zignature is a brand we discovered about a year ago and we've tried several of their products with much success. Zignature offers a lot of canned food varieties on Chewy.com and we decided to test out the salmon flavor. Was it a hit or miss? Read on for the fishy results.

We've tried several fish-flavored foods in recent years and salmon always seems to be a flavor that goes over well (and it supports healthy skin and soft coat). It's generally flavorful, without being overly fishy. When we opened the can, you could smell the salmon but it wasn't overwhelming. Basically, smelly enough to be enticing! (Plus, the salmon is sourced from the Northwest United States and the food is made in America so that's something we like a lot!)

Since this is a limited-ingredient recipe, you'll find some simple ingredients along with traditional vitamins and minerals. The first five ingredients are salmon, fish broth, salmon meal, peas, and chickpeas. This recipe has powerful antioxidants and low-glycemic carbs. The peas and chickpeas are also healthy sources of fiber. The Zignature salmon recipe is also hypoallergenic and is void of the most common doggie allergens such as corn, soy, wheat, chicken, and dairy.

Alexander is tired of waiting to eat, but we'll get there soon...

We really like the consistency of the salmon recipe, as well. It was soft, but not gloppy. We're not a fan of canned foods that are hard, so consistency is something we pay attention to. So far this looks and smells like good stuff...but is it yummy to the tummy?

Our pups say yes, yes, yes! They like the salmon flavor way more than the chicken formula that they tried in the past. (That's actually a good reminder to try different flavors as it sometimes takes a little trial and error to find what recipes your pup prefers!) Product Review: The Honest Kitchen Pour Overs

My dog says today we're going to be reviewing a product from The Honest Kitchen. The brand has a new line of Pour Overs, including pumpkin pour overs, bone broth pour overs, and superfood pour overs. We chose to test out the superfood pour over, so let's get started.

Our kiddo Logan was recently put on a low protein meal plan. We've been struggling a little with his new diet and he hasn't been thrilled with the change. So, when we saw The Honest Kitchen Pour Overs on Chewy we thought it was worth trying as a way to entice him to eat his new food. Ultimately, we chose to go with The Honest Kitchen Superfood Pour Over in Turkey Stew flavor as it had the lowest percentage of protein (4.0 %).

The Superfoods Turkey Stew variety is a limited ingredient food, and we always love when we see that. It has turkey bone broth, turkey, spinach, kale, broccoli, tapioca, potato, and turmeric. That's it. We know what all those ingredients are...and we can pronounce them! Plus, they are all GMO-free.

And what you see is what you get, so that means no rendered meals, by-products, grains, or artificial colors or flavors. This pour over is also made in a human food facility, so that makes it even safer than a traditional pet food facility. (The picture below shows the superfood poured over Logan's prescription kibble.)

On another note, the packaging is designed so you can use a little of the sauce, fold down the flaps, and then refrigerate the rest of it for the next meal. You can store the unused portion for up to three days after opening. If you have smaller dogs, that's really handy since you're more likely to have leftovers.

It's a little challenging to find the perforated line to open the first box so look real closely for it (it's right below the arrows) and then bend the top over to help tear the box open. After you figure out the first box, you'll know what to do on all future boxes. Another plus is this box is BPA-free (just don't microwave it).

So, now onto the taste! Is it a winner? Logan says...yes! He enjoyed it so much that we gave it to the other dogs to try, and they loved it, too! It's become a staple for us after just one use. It's perfect to pour over kibble as a way to make an ordinary meal into something extraordinary! Remember that the Pour Overs are for supplemental feeding, so be sure to use them in conjunction with a well-balance meal to ensure your dog gets all the other nutrients they need.

There are many other flavors and varieties, but the Superfoods recipe is perfect for Logan and now he gobbles up his prescription food without hesitation. We give The Honest Kitchen Superfood Pour Overs Turkey Stew flavor an enthusiastic four out of four paws way up!

Product Review: Now Fresh Cat Kibble

My dog says we're anxious to share our latest review with you! This time, we'll be talking about kitty kibble! So, without further adieu, let's get to learning more about Now Fresh dry food for cats!

Now Fresh is a product by Petcurean and is a Canadian brand. It's a high-end food that prides itself on what it contains...and what it doesn't. As for what is has, it includes Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids (from coconut and canola) for a soft and shiny coat, prebiotics and probiotics to aid in healthy digestion, and lots of protein to help a kitty live an active lifestyle! As for what it lacks, it's nothing you want anyway! That means no by-products, gluten, grains, rendered meats, corn, wheat, soy, or fillers.

KitCat, our feline tester, tried the adult recipe, fish flavor. The first five ingredients are deboned trout, whole dried eggs, potatoes, potato flour, and peas. The recipe also contains deboned salmon, deboned herring, and an assortment of fruits and veggies including, tomato, alfalfa, appples, carrots, sweet potatoes, squash, pumpkin, bananas, blueberries, cranberries, blackberries, pomegranate, papayas, lentils, broccoli, and dried chicory root (for those who don't know, that helps your kitty's poo stink less!).

The kibble is an almost round size, smaller than a pea. It's not disc-shaped like many kibbles. It's actually a little smooshed on two ends, but otherwise circular. The different shape didn't impact KitCat one way or the other and it was easy for him to eat.

So, let's get to what matters most...the taste test! Did Kitty McCatty like it? YES! He really did! Every time we put some in his bowl, we find it disappears very quickly!

Chewy.com has a great selection of Now Fresh recipes for cats (and also dogs!). They also carry all life stages: kitten (and puppy!), adult, and senior.

Overall, the Now Fresh Fish Recipe for Adult Cats was a big hit and earns a top score of four out of four paws! This kibble is now in our regular rotation and we look forward to trying the other flavors, as well. KitCat is already a devoted fan and wants to visit Canada to get closer to his new favorite food. In the meantime, he'll have to settle for adding Now Fresh to his monthly Chewy autoship order.

Product Review: Frisco Car Seat Cover

My dog says today the pups are excited to talk with you about the Frisco Quilted Car Seat Cover. Our family loves to go for outings, but the canine members here are big time shedders! Plus, one has a passion for running through mud puddles and then jumping into the car. That's why we were in the market for a car seat cover and wanted to see if the Frisco cover could meet our needs.

In the past, we bought a car seat cover from Ross for $12.99. it was hard and thin and it wouldn't stay in place. We hated it and took it off the car seat after just one use. This time, we knew you get what you pay for and a higher quality car seat cover was necessary if we wanted it to work.

Frisco offers four varieties of car seat covers which are all available on Chewy. We tested out the Friscso Quilted Water Resistant Bench Car Seat Cover. We liked the idea of a hammock-style cover, but after measuring our car's back seat, we thought the bench version would work better for us.

First, let's look at the premium features of this bench seat cover.

1. There is rubber webbing on the back of the cover to keep it in place and help prevent the cover from sliding around.

2. There are two anchors (they look like carrying handles, but they're not) that you shove into the seat to help keep the cover in place.

3. The straps that go over the headrests are adjustable. The area where the straps connect to the cover is also enforced really well so there won't be any tearing. (If you have an older model car like us that doesn't have those metal bars that allow the headrest to go up and down, you may have to play with the straps a little more to get them to stay in place, but you'll be able to do it.)

4. The quilting makes the cover more comfy and inviting. It's not slick or slippery at all. It also makes the cover look more tailored and attractive, too.

5. There's a flap in the front that covers the front part of the seat, as well, so you don't have to worry about the cover scrunching up and the seat getting exposed.

6. It's machine washable.

7. There are loops on each side of the cover, and slits in the middle, that allow you to thread through the seat belts so a human passenger can still ride safely in the back seat.

After we got the car seat cover installed, we let Alexander into the car to see what he thought. Of course, he had to rub his face and body all over it to claim it as his. Oh, Alex!

We've been using this cover for two weeks now and have taken trips to the dog park, the vet, and gone on a few rides around the neighborhood. The cover is still perfectly in place, with no slipping at all!

We're thrilled that we finally found a quality car seat cover that works well! Our upholstery can stay clean now and we're able to throw the cover into the wash as needed. We are very, very happy with the Frisco car seat cover from Chewy and give it an enthusiastic four out of four paws way up!

Product Review: Solid Gold Triple Layer Food Cups for Cats

My dog says today the pups are stepping aside and handing over the blog to KitCat, our in-house kitty reviewer! This week, KitCat checks out Solid Gold Triple Layer wet cat food. Without further adieu, let's get on with the show!

The Solid Gold Triple Layer has three amazing textures to it: pate, mousse, and shreds! The mousse is pumpkin and the shreds and pate are both meat protein. This food is for all ages, from kitten to senior. The layered style is a nice way to introduce different types of food to a kitten, especially, so he/she gets used to a variety of consistencies at a young age.

As always, we pay extra close attention to the first several ingredients in every food we test. For this variety, we found: chicken, turkey, pumpkin, egg white, whole egg, and tuna. That sounds like something yummy you'd make for a Sunday brunch, doesn't it?

Both grain and gluten free, this recipe is void of fillers like corn, wheat, and soy. There are also no artificial preservatives or flavors, and no carrageenan or BPA. What there is, though, is lots of meat protein and fiber-rich pumpkin which aids with healthy digestion.

Now, to the taste test...

KitCat sauntered over to the food and ate about half of it. He went back to his dish to polish it off a short time later. He ate all of food (we gave him a half cup at a time), but he didn't scarf it down like the Solid Gold Purrfect Pairings. Therefore, we give the Triple Layer three and a half out of four paws. We've never given KitCat pumpkin before, so undoubtedly that was a new flavor and texture to him. These wet food cups are filled with quality ingredients that we're really happy about, though, so we're going to try some of the other Triple Layer varieties to see if we find another flavor he might prefer (we got the turkey flavor, but there are also salmon, beef, and chicken recipes available).

The Solid Gold Triple Layer Mousse with Shreds is available on Chewy.com in a 6-cup case. Each cup is a good 2.75 ounce serving.

If your cat is a finicky eater, having three types of food in one cup may be just what you need. The pate/mousse/shreds combo cup is a brilliant idea and we look forward to trying other Triple Layer flavors in the future!

Product Review: Sojos Mix-a-Meal Freeze Dried Dog Food

My dog says today we're going to look at a brand that is new to us: Sojos. This company has been around for almost 40 years, but it's one we weren't familiar with so we wanted to check it out.

We decided to sample the Sojo's Mix-a-Meal Freeze Dried Turkey, which is grain free. Chewy.com has it listed as a topper so it seemed like a good first product to start with.

When the package arrived, we saw the spoon over the bowl on the front of the bag and we started to wonder if it was a food we needed to add water to. We read everything on the bag and it said nothing about water, so we used it as a topper and a treat.

The Sojos Mix-a-Meal has one ingredient: turkey. It's a ready-to-eat protein that can be added to any food. Sojos ingredients are globally sourced, but nothing comes from China. The product is made in America in the state of Minnesota.

We wanted to give each of the dogs a nugget to sample first, fully intending to snap a photo and then move on to feeding...but that was not to be. As soon as we opened the bag and started to pour it into a bowl so we could take a photo, a full scale riot ensued! The dogs started running around, barking, and jumping. They were beside themselves trying to get to the food. It was unlike anything we've ever seen!

Important Note: We poured the nuggets into the bowl for photo purposes only. The food should not be served this way. It needs to be added to something else (e.g. kibble, pre-mix, wet food, etc) so it's a complete and balanced meal.

We quickly took the bowl and started to hand out samples with one hand, and held the camera with the other so we could snap a picture of them taking the nuggets. Well, we literally couldn't take a photo quickly enough before they snatched the nuggets and gulped them down. We tried...and tried...and tried. The camera simply couldn't take a photo quicker than the dogs could wolf down a nugget! Soooooo, that said, here's a pic of two of the pups with blurry tongues after grabbing and gulping down the Sojos nuggets.

We were thrilled with how much the pups loved the Sojos, so we looked around Chewy to see what other products Sojos offers. They have a ton of items to choose from and there's a premix that can be used with this "protein" line so you can offer your pup a nutritionally-balanced meal. We'll have to try that next.

Chewy offers an 8 ounce bag of the Sojos Mix-a-Meal freeze dried turkey flavor. Even though 8 ounces doesn't sound like a lot, you'll be surprised how big the bag is. We have small dogs in the house and know this bag will last awhile (remember, this is for supplemental feeding and isn't a well-rounded meal on its own so it'll last longer than you might suspect).

Based on the mayhem that ensued the moment we opened the bag, we give the Sojos Mix-a-Meal an overwhelming four out of four paws! We highly recommend you try this product!
